What is that one degree that will take your performance from "hot" to "boiling?"

In this week's Magic Theory Blog Series, we visit this point, as inspired by John Guastaferro's Book, "One Degree."

The extraordinary may only be one degree away...

One Degree Separates Hot Water from Boiling... and I think it is a brilliant point to make. One thing could make your effect that much stronger. One little word or moment could take your presentation from just Hot water to Boiling water.
When doing your effects/show/performance- whatever you're doing, you should always consider some major points:

  • Creating Tension
  • Timing
  • Pacing
  • Voice Control
  • Body Control
  • Emotional Control
  • Creating Moments

In another post we talked about Mixing Methods to create another level. but this isn't so much as methods, this is a personal thing. Something you have to do with your Body/Voice/Eyes etc.
Connecting with your audience is a big part of it, but that doesn't necessarily mean just "talking" with them. You can connect on a whole other level without talking. It's the energy you send out. It's the mood you create. It's the feeling you give. The tension you create.

What do you think? Head over to the forum thread or leave a comment here with your thoughts on how you can elevate the impact of your magic and connect more intensely with your audience.
