TOPIC: Eliminating The Logical Solution

Eliminating The Logical Solution 1 year 10 months ago #12416

"When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains...however improbable...must be the truth."
--Sherlock Holmes

Greetings Seekers Of Illumination,

Quite the 'Underdeveloped Discussion' is of 'Logical Disconnect' as refereed to by 'Bob Haines'

'Bob Cassidy' is currently in productions of a publication that is based upon various 'Insights' into 'Logical Disconnect'

Though I Digress,

Logical Disconnect

Simply is the 'Act Of Disconnecting Logic to The Method'

A Simple Example would be requesting the spectator 'Shuffle The Deck' before a Part of the message is hidden for the guests. Please log in or register to see it.

it's a 'Subtle Action' that 'Eliminates' 'Logic' to the 'Method' without the act of 'Over-proving' or 'Unnecessary Actions'
If an effect can be solved by the application of intelligent logic, then the effect is no good. The performer needs to sever the audiences line of thinking so the method can not be solved by logic. Often it means using the spectators thought process against them - Bob Cassidy

'Richard Osterlind' had thoughts about this in many of his publications labeled the 'Cancellation Principle'

Briefly: 'To Cancel Out 'Methods' Before the spectator may believe it to be 'Fact'

I Utilize a 'Logical Disconnect; within my 'Metal Bending' Routines, i place multiple Forks on the table and request each one examines them if they desire, likewise make sure they are Unable to 'Bend' by 'Force Of Hand'

they can examine each one and none is able to 'Bend' by pure force,

I 'Select' one and commence bending,

It Eliminates 'Method' without having to 'Claim' it, the moment you 'Claim' a 'Method' is incorrect, is the moment suspicion arises, within the 'Subtle Actions' and 'displays' the 'Logical Disconnect' has been 'Inserted'

Likewise there are 'Indirect' and 'Direct' 'Logical Disconnector's'

That can be utilized in a 'Cohesive Unit' within the 'Scripting' and 'Presentation' that lays within the 'Subtle Actions'

Within a Part of the message is hidden for the guests. Please log in or register to see it.

As one can view, it is impossible to View through the paper without the aid of 'X-Ray Vision' both sides are Opaque confirmed? Indeed, Likewise your Initials secure that this Paper shall never be switched Confirmed? Indeed, and by you holding this paper between your hands shall secure the fact that i cannot 'Read' off the paper Confirmed?

whilst that 'Script' was 'Off The Cuff' and one shall construct a 'Superior Script' one is able to view the 'Logical Disconnects' and 'Cancellations' within the 'Script

One has 'Eliminated' all 'Logical Methods' of acquiring the 'Information' within the 'Scripting' and 'Instructions'

This is something I learned when performing coin magic. I use this very often when I structure my routines now, which are mainly mentalism.

What I found is that we can use spectator's subconscious against them, for example- using a Ramsay subtlety before the coin ever "vanishes". What this allowed me to do is have their subconscious mind seal that door so it was never even opened by the conscious. People seem to be unaware of the possibility of concealing the coin on the other hand, they jump to far more illogical methods without consideration of the most practical.

The bolder the method, the more subtleties one should use to cause disconnects for the spectators. The goal being do cross off the methods from their "check list" subconsciously. I know I'm reiterating what you've mentioned, but hopefully in a new analogy that I apply when structuring routines.

I found a quote by Henry Hay that hints at what we're discussing.

"A magician must have 1) clever handling of props 2) carefully chosen words and 3) well-choreographed body language"

Note: sometimes the most effective way to do this is to just blow past the method and move on to more complicated solutions. Or, simply skip over the "confirmations" and turn them into "givens".
For example, in the context of a billet peek you could say - "Now I haven't rigged the ceiling with camera's or something."

so you jump right past the cards being opaque or any simpler method, and you go right for a more complex method, accomplishing the subconscious checklist.

Indeed Austin, Cheers to find you within the 'Magic Network' once more

I believe one can never 'Reiterate' Theory Enough,

Indeed, if one has the Spectators utilizing 'Logical Thought Process' against themselves it eliminates the 'Work' the performer has to accomplish, they have a 'War' betwixt 'Logical' and 'illogical Solutions' they 'Cancel' out Methods and then accept your Reality,

"Now I haven't rigged the ceiling with camera's or something."

Richard Osterlind has Utilized that line in various performances, i believe in his 'Card Calling' routine or some such as it were,

Brilliant Additions Austin, a Pleasure Mate
