Hey everyone,

Thought I would come on here and see what yalls thoughts were on the promo images for my upcoming Effect release "Malachi's Aces."

What are the pros and the cons of these photos and which do you like best? Also any changes you think should be made..

Also What are yalls thoughts on the importance of a promo image for a effect in general? Do you think its necessary or unnecessary?

Yea I know... I will be releasing a New video very soon where there is absolutely NO shuffling of the cards. Just take the aces put them in different parts of the deck and then start cutting to them. Are you selling you or a card trick? I think it would be better without you in the image, only because you are selling the trick, not yourself. While the graphics are very cool I don't think the flames make sense... as the name doesn't mention anything to do with heat or fire ect and the effect doesn't include any fire. How about changing the perspective of the images... for example we could be looking at the cards from an angle or side view as straight on is a bit basic.

Well to be honest the only reason the flames are there is because I thought cards on fire looked cool.

As for the perspective I never even thought of that.

When it came down to making the promo image I was thinking well the effects name is "Malachi's Aces" so it would make since to have Malachi on there and then Aces. Thats really all I was going by. I just started working with it and thats what I came up with.

Version 4 is the best so far... but I agree with the others that the image of you somehow doesn't fit in there... just looks a bit too superimposed and you can tell that the picture wasn't taken specifically for this promo image.

If you want to include a picture of yourself, try and make it fit in a bit better if you can. Some good recent examples are the promo images for "Insane" by Andy Nyman and "Rapture" by Edward Boswell. You can see both on the theory11 homepage.

Notice how the photos blend in well with everything else.

I think if you can't make it blend in, then just leave it out because it takes away more than it adds.

The rest looks nice, and I agree with Kiwi, if you can change the angle of the cards again it might make it look more interesting.
